What Is the Dear Food Program? A Spiritual Diet Plan For You
Are you struggling with overeating, binging, weight gain, or food addiction? Have you done every diet under the sun and still can’t lose weight and keep if off? Discover the difference a Bible based spiritual diet plan can make.
What is a spiritual diet plan?
Spiritual diet plans put your faith first, instead of food, to help you overcome the food strongholds and over- eating disorders that prevent you from reaching your healthy living goals.
Since starting the Dear Food Program, a Christ-centered eating plan, I’ve helped countless readers untangle the complex relationship between food, emotions, and spirituality to get their food and health victories. Many start out feeling stuck and hopeless, but quickly experience the difference this Bible-based diet makes in their lives. Using this spiritual growth plan, readers start feeling better and see results quickly, including weight loss and non-scale victories.
In the Dear Food, I Love You. I Hate You, Don’t Leave Me! workbooks, you will learn how to cultivate a healthy mind and spiritual life around food so that you can care for your needs without using food in an unhealthy way. It’s amazing to see what an immediate, lasting and positive impact Dear Food has on readers.
In this article, I’ll explain what you need to know about the Dear Food spiritual growth and food plan, which can help you finally achieve healthy living with joy. Let’s get started!
The Dear Food Program: Is it the Right Diet Plan For You?
Most diet plans focus on food and eating, or even spiritual foods to eat, right at beginning. These plans skip over cultivating a healthy mind, spiritual growth, and managing the moods and feelings that drive compulsive eating, emotional eating and disordered eating.
I know from my own experience being morbidly obese and yo-yo dieting for decades, that trying to lose weight without a clear understanding of how emotions impact eating habits is a losing battle. What worked for everyone else didn’t work for me. I needed a spiritual diet cleanse, not just a list of “good foods,” “bad foods” and an exercise routine. The incessant finger-wagging and long list of to dos from diet gurus made me feel like a failure on repeat.
At the Dear Food Program, we do things differently. First, we start with our emotional and mental wellbeing (our hearts: aka “our inside”) then work outward. We do this by inviting the Lord into our food journey, incorporating prayer, and using God’s Word as a priority for wisdom and guidance as we explore a healthy living path that works with our needs.
We’ll rewrite our food story together with this bible based diet by seeking wisdom and encouragement from the Lord Jesus, who’s always by our side and cares very much about our physical health, emotional health and mental wellbeing. (1 Peter 5:7)
How Does the Dear Food Program Work?
In the Dear Food Program, you’ll progress through workbook 1, 2 and 3 in order. You can do the program alone or in a group. You’ll have worksheets, prayer prompts and even cut-outs to place around your home or workspace to remind you of your new tools, growth, and victories. Bible verse cutouts at the end of every chapter will remind you how much you are loved by the Lord.
In addition to the workbooks there are a ton of free resources, including Intro and Wrap-up videos for each chapter, podcast episodes for each chapter, free worksheet downloads, playlists and even a community of fellow Dear Food participants on Circle. I also participate, offering free live Q&A sessions, workshops and new member meet-ups. Signing up for the Dear Food Circle is free. Taking advantage of the free community and resources available on Circle while using the workbooks has shown to multiply long desired food victories.
As a member of the Dear Food Circle, you can take workshops, discuss your struggles, share victories and encourage others in a community that understands your spiritual battle with food. I’m there too, because I want to be able to meet you and encourage you on your Dear Food journey to victory!
The Purpose of the Dear Food Program
The purpose of the Dear Food Program is to provide you with a Bible based diet and spiritual meal plan to help you finally grasp the victory over food you’ve wanted for so long.
You’ll do this by rewriting your food story on the pages of the workbooks and inviting the Lord into your eating because as we know, Jesus changes everything! We’re going to grow closer to the Lord, each other and our health goals in a community that understands what it’s like to recover from food hurts and disordered eating. And we’re going to celebrate and build on our victories big and small.
The power of God’s goodness and grace is incredible. When you go through this Christian weight-loss program, you’ll see the amazing love and care the Lord provides as you depend on Him to help with each step. Jesus’ grace is an integral part of this program, so win or lose in a food moment, you’ll see as you trust in His love and help He is there for you through it all. Romans 8:38-39
